Tuesday 8/8/2033: Terry Dang dominates Philadelphia, gives up just one hit
PHILADELPHIA - It was a great day for Houston's right-hander Terry Dang. The 23-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against Philadelphia on Tuesday. Dang (2-1) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 2, throwing 117 pitches. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Manuel Delmas provided Houston with the offense Dang needed as he went 2 for 4, stroking two 2B's, and driving in 2 runs. Houston improved its record to 57-57, scoring 4 runs on 6 hits.
 
Monday 8/7/2033: Whitmarsh (LAA) and Shadle (SDN) win P.O.W. award
The American League's best player of the week was Los Angeles (A)'s Paul Whitmarsh, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .611 and hit .588, while driving in 6 runs. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to San Diego's Donald Shadle this time, as the pitcher displayed the best pitching perfomance in his league. Saturday 8/5/2033: New York (N)'s Bruce Guillen goes deep three times
HOUSTON - Hitting a homerun is fine, but hitting three of them in one game is something special. New York (N)'s leftfielder Bruce Guillen accomplished that feat in a 8-6 win over Houston. In the 5th inning he unloaded a two-run homerun off Hong Rueda. A 416 foot drive to right-center marked his 2nd bomb, a solo homerun off Chang Steve in the 6th inning. A pitch from William Schoenfeld in the 8th inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 371 feet from home plate in right field. Overall he finished with 4 hits in 5 AB, with three runs scored and collecting 4 RBI.
 
Wednesday 8/2/2033: Albert Fleming dominates Baltimore, gives up just one hit
BALTIMORE - Albert Fleming had some fun again. Baltimore hitters did not. Kansas City's left-hander gave up just one hit in his 3rd shutout of the season. He now has 9 career shutouts in 325 games started. 'Wow, what a nice day. I guess I had a good breakfast today.' Fleming (8-8) struck out 8 and issued 2 BB, throwing 56 of 91 pitches for strikes. Terry Weeks helped Fleming at the plate, he finished with 2 hits in 4 AB. Kansas City improved its record to 57-51, scoring 2 runs on 8 hits.
 
Tuesday 8/1/2033: Juan Cervantes (PHI) will miss 5-6 weeks
PHILADELPHIA - When it rains, it pours. Philadelphia's left-hander Juan Cervantes will not pitch for at least 5-6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Chicago (N) where he left the field in the 8th inning. Torn Bicep Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. His ERA of 2.65 helped him to a 1-4 record this year. He struck out 38 and walked 10 in 37.1 innings.
 
Tuesday 8/1/2033: Minnesota's Llewellyn severely injured
MINNESOTA - When it rains, it pours. Minnesota's right-hander George Llewellyn will not pitch for at least 4 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Boston where he left the field in the 5th inning. Llewellyn was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Pulled Bicep Muscle. This season Llewellyn compiled an ERA of 3.88, going 7-10 in 21 starts. He fanned 119 while giving up 152 hits in 141.2 innings.
 
Tuesday 8/1/2033: Balas (TOR) and Shadle (SDN) win monthly pitcher award
Toronto's Douglas Balas had a terrific July, and it earned him the American League Pitcher of the month award. His record of 4-1 in 6 was among the leagues best this month. In 50.1 innings of work he allowed just 31 hits while striking out 57, compiling an ERA of just 1.43. Douglas also fired a shutout. This season Balas compiled an ERA of 2.22, going 13-8 in 23 starts. He fanned 207 while giving up 135 hits in 182.1 innings. Douglas has pitched 4 shutouts and 7 complete games. He's 4th in the American League in ERA and 5th in wins! The best month of July in the National League certainly had San Diego's right-hander Donald Shadle, earning him the Pitcher of the Month award. His ERA of just 0.50 helped him to a 4-0 record in July. He worked 35.2 innings, striking out 56 hitters while walking 11. Donald also fired a shutout. His ERA of 1.29 helped him to a 16-3 record this year. He struck out 283 and walked 55 in 160.2 innings. Donald has pitched 3 shutouts and 3 complete games. Tuesday 8/1/2033: Detroit's Iemochi earns Batter of the Month award
The Batter of the Month award in the American League goes to Detroit's Kawarou Iemochi this time, as the rightfielder displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. In 96 at bats he hit .323 with 5 HR and 26 RBI. His season numbers are: .268 AVG, 107 hits, 24 doubles, one triple and 13 taters, along with 69 RBI and 66 runs scored. Benny Deitz of Houston wins his 6th Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the National League. Benny pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .342 with 8 and 23 RBI while slugging .776. His season features a batting average of .228 (78 hits in 342 AB), 30 doubles, no triples and 14 longballs. Deitz collected 58 RBI and 48 runs as well.
 
Monday 7/31/2033: Donald Shadle shuts out Milwaukee on one hit
SAN DIEGO - Great days are rare. But not for San Diego's right-hander Donald Shadle. Milwaukee found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 3rd shutout this season, and the 6th time he has done it in his career. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches.' Shadle (16-3) struck out an astounding 13 and walked 2, throwing 77 of 120 pitches for strikes. San Diego's The final score of the game was 4-0.
 
Monday 7/31/2033: Player of the Week honors go to Balas and Deitz
Douglas Balas of Toronto wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for dominating American League's hitters the entire week. Douglas went 2-0 with an ERA of 1.06, while fanning 21 in 17 innings of work. He hurled a shutout as well. Houston's first baseman Benny Deitz had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the National League Player of the Week. In 16 at bats he hit .438 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. His season features a batting average of .228 (77 hits in 338 AB), 29 doubles, no triples and 14 homeruns. Deitz collected 58 RBI and 48 runs as well.
 
Sunday 7/30/2033: Jack Juarez out for 4-5 weeks
CLEVELAND - Cleveland is without its ace Jack Juarez for at least 4-5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Todd Broadway in a game against Oakland. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Pulled Rotator Cuff Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Opposing players hit .190 against Jack this season. While posting an ERA of 2.04 he went 13-8 in 24 starts, fanning 222 and walking 25 hitters. He's 2nd in the American League in ERA and 5th in wins!
 
Friday 7/28/2033: Amador Barcenas fires NO-NO against Boston
OAKLAND - Oakland's right-hander Amador Barcenas made some history today, firing a no-hitter against Boston. Their hitters found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, never having a chance against his overpowering stuff. Barcenas (10-6) was overpowering, fanning 10 while walking 1, throwing 112 pitches. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today, and it's especially nice to do it in such fashion.' Soudarou Katsumoto provided Oakland with the offense Barcenas needed as he finished 2 for 4, hitting a double. Oakland improved its record to 63-40, scoring 2 runs on 9 hits.
 
Wednesday 7/26/2033: Texas' Agosto severely injured
TEXAS - Texas is without its ace Arthur Agosto for at least 5 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to William Kellner in a game against Cleveland. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. Agosto was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Ruptured Bicep Tendon. His ERA of 4.00 helped him to a 6-10 record this year. He struck out 141 and walked 64 in 139.1 innings. Sunday 7/23/2033: Lamar Corrado stars with 2000th career hit
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh's first baseman Lamar Corrado already had some highlights in his career, and today he added another one, getting his 2000th career hit. His hit in the 9th inning was a single off Brian Gwinn. His best year so far was 2023 where he hit .326 with 17 homeruns and 103 RBI. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.'
 
Saturday 7/22/2033: Ismael Rodriguez pitches his 1st shutout of the season
SAN DIEGO - It was a great day for Arizona's right-hander Ismael Rodriguez. The 27-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against San Diego on Saturday. Rodriguez (10-7) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking 2, throwing 113 pitches. 'I had a good grip on the ball today and I was able to put it where I wanted. That kept them out of balance.' Siro Garza helped Rodriguez at the plate, he stroked 2 hits in 4 AB. The final score of the game was 1-0.
 
Thursday 7/20/2033: Robert Wilk shuts out Cincinnati on one hit
ST. LOUIS - St. Louis' right-hander Robert Wilk will never forget this day. The 28-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against Cincinnati on Thursday. Wilk (13-3) struck out an astounding 13 and walked none, throwing 69 of 108 pitches for strikes. 'I was able to keep´em off balance. That certainly helped.' Robert Deaton helped Wilk at the plate, he finished 1 for 3, hitting a homerun, with 4 RBI. The final score of the game was 7-0.
 
Tuesday 7/18/2033: Dave Moya has 2000th career hits
SAN DIEGO - San Diego's players had every reason to congratulate Dave Moya, who reached a milestone today, collecting his 2000th career hit! He hit a double in the 2nd off David Monk for number 2000. His best year so far was 2029 where he hit .284 with 26 homeruns and 107 RBI. 'Wow. That is all I can say now. I'm thrilled.'
 
Tuesday 7/18/2033: David Muņoz pitches 2-hit shutout against Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia's hitters were dominated by New York (N)'s David Muņoz. He gave up just 2 hits in recording his 2nd shutout of the season. 'I had my stuff going. Everything I tried worked. What a day!' Muņoz (9-5) fanned 8 and walked 2, throwing 102 pitches. New York (N)'s leftfielder Bruce Guillen collected 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate, blasting a homerun, stroking a double, scoring FOUR runs. Saturday 7/1/2033: Stokley (TOR) and Tong (STL) win monthly pitcher award
Toronto's Louis Stokley had a terrific June, and it earned him the American League Pitcher of the month award. He went 6-0 in June and finished the month with an ERA of 0.71. He struck out 67 in 51 innings. Louis fired THREE shutouts! In 18 starts this year Louis struck out 152 batters in 148.2 innings of work. His ERA is 2.06, his record 11-4. Louis has pitched 3 shutouts and 6 complete games. He's 3rd in the American League in ERA and 3rd in wins! It's the 2nd time that the National League Pitcher of the Month award goes to St. Louis' pitcher Jeremy Tong. He started 5 games in June, going 3-2 and compiling an ERA of 0.24 in 37 innings. Jeremy fanned 43 hitters. Jeremy also fired a shutout. Opposing players hit .200 against Jeremy this season. While posting an ERA of 1.41 he went 9-5 in 17 starts, fanning 146 and walking 16 hitters. Jeremy has pitched 3 shutouts and 5 complete games.

CHICAGO (A) - Chicago (A)'s right-hander John Harris is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Kansas City on just 2 hits. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 6th time he has done it in his career. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Harris (6-6) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking 1, throwing 108 pitches. Chicago (A)'s third baseman Bennett Witman finished with 1 hit in 4 AB. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Harris. The final score of the game was 1-0.
 
Tuesday 6/27/2033: Patricio Orta NO-HITS Cincinnati
WASHINGTON - Age doesn't matter. At least Washington's right-hander Patricio Orta shares this opinion. The 38 year old pitched a no-hitter against Cincinnati, showing the great stuff that made him famous for years. 'My catcher called a very good game. I have to give credit to him. He was the main reason I accomplished this feat.' Orta (5-9) struck out an astounding 13 and walked 5, throwing 77 of 131 pitches for strikes. Kraig Jenner provided Washington with the offense Orta needed as he went 1 for 3, blasting a homerun, and collecting 4 RBI. Washington improved its record to 40-38, scoring 5 runs on 7 hits.
 
Monday 6/26/2033: Richard Rawson collects 2000th hit against Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH - Colorado's centerfielder Richard Rawson already had some highlights in his career, and today he added another one, getting his 2000th career hit. His hit in the 2nd inning was a single off Charles Wentzel. Along with his 2000 hits, Richard collected 260 homeruns and 1084 RBI in 17 seasons. 'It's hard to believe that I did it. SAN FRANCISCO - Ronald Hisle had some fun again. San Francisco hitters did not. Chicago (N)'s right-hander gave up just one hit in his 1st shutout of the season. He now has 4 career shutouts in 440 games started. Hisle (5-4) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking 3, throwing 110 pitches. 'I was hitting my spots. Now I'll start concentrating on my next start, and hopefully it will work again.' Kenneth Wax helped Hisle at the plate, he finished with 3 hits in 4 AB, hitting a homerun, doubling once, scoring twice with 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 9-0.
 
Wednesday 6/21/2033: Michael Thomas fires NO-NO against Houston
PHILADELPHIA - Michael Thomas had his best stuff going, and Houston hitters were chanceless. Philadelphia's right-hander fired a NO-NO, his 1st shutout of the season. 'Well, the ball went where I wanted it. I was able to hit the corners with all of my pitches. I'm so happy that it was enough to pitch such a great game.' CHICAGO (A) - Chicago (A)'s right-hander Tyrell Funkhouser experienced probably the worst case scenario for a pitcher, a season ending injury. After pitching in the 2nd inning of the game against Cleveland, Funkhouser complained about serious pain in his throwing arm. He had to leave the game. Funkhouser was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Torn Ligament Elbow. His ERA of 3.01 helped him to a 7-5 record this year. He struck out 113 and walked 18 in 98.2 innings. Tyrell has pitched 2 shutouts and 2 complete games.
 
Monday 6/19/2033: Louis Stokley turns in great performance against Los Angeles (A)
LOS ANGELES (A) - Great days are rare. But not for Toronto's lefty Louis Stokley. Los Angeles (A) found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 12th time he has done it in his career. 'That was one of the best games of my career. I had my stuff working very well today.' Stokley (9-4) struck out an astounding 15 and walked none, throwing 67 of 109 pitches for strikes. Toronto's centerfielder Jared Petti went 1 for 4, blasting a homerun, and collecting 2 RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Stokley. Toronto improved its record to 39-32, scoring 4 runs on 9 hits.

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis' leftfielder Robert Deaton made baseball history today, collecting his 600th career homerun! In the 2nd inning he unloaded his 600th blast off Robert Kivett. Perhaps his best year so far was 2020 where he hit .324 with 59 homeruns and 158 RBI. Robert has managed to hit 30+ homeruns in a season 8 times, and he topped 40 homeruns 6 times. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.' It's no secret that he will one day be in the Hall of Fame!

CLEVELAND - Cleveland's shortstop Joseph Denham will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Cleveland and Minnesota. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Denham collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. Broken Foot was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Tuesday 4/18/2033: Roy Nichols collects 2000th hit against Seattle
SEATTLE - Los Angeles (A)'s shortstop Roy Nichols was in good mood after the game against Seattle, and he had every reason as he made some history while collecting his 2000th career hit. His hit in the 3rd inning was a three run homerun off Hosea Cosentino. Along with his 2000 hits, Roy collected 418 homeruns and 1358 RBI in 13 seasons. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.'
 
Monday 4/17/2033: Player of the Week honors go to Scott and Tyus
It's the 1st time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to New York (A)'s first baseman Larry Scott. Scott helped his team with an average of .529 and 8 RBI in 17 at bats. Larry is hitting .419 this year, with 18 hits in 43 at bats. He has driven in 17 runs, slugging .884. He's 3rd in the American League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI! The National League's best player of the week was Cincinnati's Alvin Tyus, who wins the award for the 3rd time in his career. Alvin went 13 for 22 (.591), while hitting 2 HR and collecting 7 RBI. This year Tyus drove in 11 and scored 10 runs while batting .333 with 3 homeruns.
 
Thursday 4/13/2033: Joel Bourbeau hits for the cycle against Colorado
COLORADO - Joel Bourbeau led Cincinnati to a 13-3 win over Colorado by squeezing four hits out of his bat. That's not the best part, though. He hit for the cycle as well! Number 1 in the 1st inning accounted for a RBI double. A single in the 2nd off Raul Zamarripa accounted for his 2nd hit. A pitch from Kenneth McKibben in the 3rd inning left his bat for a three-run homerun, landing 390 feet from home plate in right field. In the 8th inning he unloaded a triple off Santiago Alonso. That drive completed the cycle, causing a smile on his face! Joel did drive in 5 while scoring one run on his own. This season has been a good one for him so far, as he has 13 hits in 42 at bats, resulting in a .310 batting average. He's now the 102nd player in league history to hit for the cycle! Miguel Mazza was the last player to hit for the cycle, doing it 6/25/2029.
 
Thursday 4/13/2033: Arthur Agosto dominates Chicago (A), gives up just 2 hits
TEXAS - It was a great day for Texas' left-hander Arthur Agosto. The 23-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 2-hitter, against Chicago (A) on Thursday. 'I had a good grip on the ball today and I was able to put it where I wanted. That kept them out of balance.' Agosto (2-1) struck out 7 and walked 3, throwing 68 of 110 pitches for strikes. Freddie Val provided Texas with the offense Agosto needed as he went 1 for 1, hitting a homerun, and collecting 2 RBI. Texas improved its record to 5-6, scoring 3 runs on 6 hits.
 
Wednesday 4/12/2033: Huge blow for New York (A)'s Trueman, career over
NEW YORK (A) - It was one of baseball saddest days. New York (A)'s right-hander Devon Trueman fell victim to a career ending injury in a game against Cleveland on Wednesday. He complained about pain after throwing a pitch to William Kellner, then suddenly collapsed. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Torn Ligament Elbow. His career featured a record of 1-0 with an ERA of 1.84. Baseball will certainly miss this great player.
 
Monday 4/10/2033: New York (A)'s Perez wins Player of the Week award
The American League Player of the Week award goes to Damian Perez, New York (A)'s starting leftfielder. In 27 at bats he hit .444 with 4 HR and 12 RBI. His season numbers are: .438 AVG, 14 hits, 5 doubles, one triple and 4 homeruns, along with 12 RBI and 11 runs scored. He's 4th in the American League in batting, 1st in homeruns and 1st in RBI! It's the 2nd time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to St. Louis' pitcher Jeremy Tong. He was in a zone all week, compiling an ERA of 0.00 while going 2-0. He pitched two shutouts!
